Whilst we’re keeping this year’s badge under wraps until you arrive, our friends and sponsors at Punk Security have dropped a little info ahead of time, to allow you to customise your badge on the day.
Their original post containing hints about the badge features and firmware (including how to use chtgpt to help you learn how to modify it) is here.
For those who are already familiar with flashing an ATTINY814 (or have access to an Arduino and aren’t scared of a little experiment)then the repo for the stock firmware, including the .ino source is at https://github.com/punk-security/bsides-leeds-2026-badge.
Not only do we encourage you to modify the firmware to make your own custom badges, but we encourage you help others develop their own custom firmware on the day too!
Update:
The first “in the wild” custom badge code we’ve seen if from another friend and sponsor Andy “ZephrFish” Gill .
His fork of Punk’s original code, can be found at
https://github.com/ZephrFish/bsides-leeds-2026-badge/tree/main/zephrfish
Update 2:
There is now so much interest in this, we have a dedicate channel on our discord.
