Talk Abstract
Most organisations have a crisis plan. Some have more than one. A few have even tested them.
A D&D DM (Dungeon Master) builds worlds that are designed to break. Any good DM is planning for failure, exceptions, and the unexpected instead of everything running on rails. They are working to manage people who ignore the plan entirely and do something unexpected at the worst moment.
Then they improvise, keep everyone functional, and somehow get through to the end. Sound familiar?
This covers what crisis preparedness really requires – exercises that find real weaknesses instead of reassuring and confirming assumptions, leading without steering when the team goes off-script, and why "what would happen if?" is more useful under pressure than any flowchart.
Plus debriefs that really change behaviour instead of producing more documents for no one to read.
No D&D experience required.
Attendees will walk away with practical tools for building better exercises, facilitating under pressure, and running debriefs that actually change things.
Intended Audience
None. Intended audience anyone who has to, or plans to, deal with crisis managament.
